โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Bandโstop fiberโoptic filters based on sampled longโperiod gratings (SโLPGs) have been fabricated and studied experimentally. Comparison between transmission spectra of the proposed SโLPGs and normal LPGs have been carried out. It has been found that SโLPGs possess much narrower stop bands than the corresponding normal LPGs, though their transmission spectra are similar. Experimental results also show that SโLPGs have the same strain and temperature sensitivities as normal LPGs written in the same fiber. ยฉ 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract We present a novel method to fabricate fiber filters based on mechanically induced longโperiod fiber gratings. Transmission spectra can be tailored by external pressures or by introducing a phaseโshift. As an example, the filter was used to flatten the spectral output from an Erโdoped s
