Salt tolerance of five rhizobia strains was examined in broth cultures. Five levels of SaCl concentration were used and the optiral density was taken as a measure for the vigoiir of bacterial growth. Rhizobium leguminosnrum and R. meliloti were tolerant to high levels of salinity and grov t h rurve
