## Abstract Two novel methods for the synthesis of terminal acetylenic sugars, both involving a chain extension by one carbon unit, are described. In the first procedure, an aldehydo‐sugar is treated with dibromomethylenetriphenyl‐phosphorane, then with __n__‐butyllithium and finally with water. Th

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Complexed dialkylgermylenes R~2~GeNR~3~ or R~2~GePy react with oxiranes or thiirane and lead to dialkylgermanone and germathione via germaoxetanes or germathiacyclobutane. The formation of germadioxolanes or germadithiolane finally observed arises from condensation of dialkylgermanone (or germathione) on oxiranes (or thiirane).
