✦ Synopsis

A series of peaks in the threshold photoelectron spectrum (TPES) of hexafluorobenzene in the 13 eV region arc found to have the same energies as Rydberg bands in the VUV absorption spectrum_ The TPES and VU' absorption features are interpreted as an nd Rydberg series. with a quantum defect 6 = -0.03. converging to the t?ekctronic state of &I': at 1XSS

eV. The ion c state is shown to have 2B2U electronic symmetry_
