Abstract

The short‐range Rydberg potential function is used to calculate the transverse optical mode frequency (ωto), transverse optical mode Grüneisen parameter (γto), and Grüneisen parameter (γ) for rock salt and caesium chloride structure ionic solids. The pressure derivative of bulk modulus (d__B__/d__P__) and Debye characteristic temperature (θ~D~) are also evaluated using this short‐range interaction. The results obtained using Rydberg potential are found in good agreement with recent experimental data.
