✦ Synopsis

A case of traumatic rupture of the aortic valve as a complication of the Heimlich maneuver is presented. Confirmation was made by comparative echocardiographic studies available from three months before and immediately following the incident. The patient refused surgical intervention and died one month later with severe congestive heart failure despite vigorous medical therapy.
