We have operated on 51 old injuries with abduction instability of the metacarpophalangealjoint of the thumb The time from injury to operation was 8 weeks to 5 years Ligament repair was made in 29 cases In 22 cases arthrodesis of the joint was performed because of primary unsuccessful operation or arthrosis of the joint.
The patients were followed-up for 6 9 years on average Twenty-three patients with ligament repair were satisfied, while 6 patients were not satisfied; 4 having a disabling instability and 2 complaining of pain and stiffness of the joint By stress radiography only 15 of the 29 patients had a stable joint All the patients with arthrodesis of the joint were satisfied, having a painless and well-functioning thumb.
Zusammenfassung Wir haben 51 alte Verletzungen des ulnaren Kollateralbandes mit Abduktionsinstabilitat im Daumengrundgelenk operiert Die Zeit von der Verletzung bis zur Operation lag zwischen 8 Wochen und 5 Jahren Eine Ligamentrekonstruktion wurde in 29 Fallen gemacht In 22 Fillen wurde eine Arthrodese wegen primer mi 13 lungener Operation oder Arthrose des Gelenkes gemacht.
Die Patienten wurden im Schnitt 6,9 Jahre beobachtet Dreiundzwanzig Patienten mit Ligamentrekonstruktion waren zufrieden, wihrend 6 Patienten unzufrieden waren, 4 davon hatten eine invalidisierende Instabilitat und 2 klagten iber Schmerzen und Steifheit des betreffenden Gelenkes Eine Funktionsaufnahme unter Belastung des ulnaren Kollateralbandes im Daumengrundgelenk zeigte ein stabiles Gelenk bei 15 der 29 Patienten Alle Patienten mit einer Arthrodese waren zufrieden, weil sie einen schmerzlosen, gut funktionierenden Daumen hatten.
