✦ Synopsis


A continuous creepfatigue interaction damage law which accounts for the important effect of strain rate on the rate of damage accumulation is proposed. The proposed damage law is first generalized to evaluate the damage under multiaxial stress states. It is then employed for a continuum mechanical analysis of a thick-walled tube subjected to a pulsating internal pressure. The associated boundary value problem is one of plane strain, complicated by a moving boundary in the form of a propagating rupture front. Numerical results are presented and discussed in this study. It is found that the propagation of the rupture front leads to a radical redistribution of stresses.
