Electrocatalytic IrO 2 -RuO 2 supported on Sb-doped SnO 2 (ATO) nanoparticles is very active towards the oxygen evolution reaction. The IrO 2 -RuO 2 material is XRD amorphous and exists as clusters on the surface of the ATO. Systematic changes to the surface chemical composition of the ATO as a func

✦ Synopsis
Sb-doped SnO 2 a b s t r a c t With a colloid method, RuO 2 was deposited on Sb-doped SnO 2 nanoparticles (ATO, Aldrich, 30e40 nm), which was employed as a novel support material for anode catalysts of polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysers (PEMWE). Distinctive RuO 2 nanoparticles (10e15 nm) were stably deposited on ATO nanoparticles, which were characterized with XRD and SEM. RuO 2 /ATO exhibited higher activity than unsupported RuO 2 for oxygen evolution. A PEMWE single cell with 10 mg cm À2 20 wt.% RuO 2 /ATO achieved 1.56 V at 1 A cm À2 at 80 C.
