Members of the Society are invited to apply for grants from the Legacies Fund. Approximately f 1400 will be available during 1982, including money carried forward from 1981. The terms of reference for the Fund allow it to be used for the following purposes: (a) To provide bursaries to attend scientific conferences. Established scientists w i l l not normally be considered; the aim of the Fund is to encourage attendance at conferences by younger members and by those who have no access to funds through professional organizations.
(b) Bursaries to take part in short educational coufses. (c) Grants to enable members to carry out small research projects. (d) The purchase of equipment for use on field mums or within research projects. The Committees which allocate thew funds meet only in January, May and September, Applicants should, whenever possible, submit their applications in good time for their cases to be considered at these times.
Note that grants may only be made to Members, though all types of Membership, including Corporate and Student Members, are included. Applications must be made on the special forms obtainable from the Executive Secretary.
