Rovibrational spectra of Hz, HN:, and H30+ generated in discharge jet-expansion have been studied using a differencefrequency infrared source, The rotational temperatures were determined to be 120 i 20,273 + 20 and 150 -f: 20 K for H: , HN$ , and HsO+, respectively. β¦ Synopsis
Rotational spectra of the molecular ions HOCO Γ· and HOCS Γ·, and the ion complexes, D~--Ar and sym-D2HΓ·-Ar were observed in a supersonic-jet expansion by using a Fabry-Perot type Fourier-transform microwave spectrometer cooperated with a pulsed discharge nozzle. Ion-formation efficiency for HOCS Γ· relative to the parent molecule under applied conditions was estimated to be = 10 -4. Tunneling splitting in the lowest rotational transition of D~--Ar was not resolved within the experimental linewidth of ~ 100 kHz.

Highly excited states of benzene were observed by two-color fluorescence dip and ion dip spectroscopy applied to the jet-cooled molecule. Three band systems and a broad absorption were found in the energy region from 56000 to 68000 cm-'. The broad absorption was assigned to the iEzs valence state. T
A newly designed two-dimensional corona-excited slit nozzle discharge is described and its first applications for direct absorption spectroscopy of molecular ions in a supersonic expansion in the infrared (NO+ ) and far-infrared (N,H+ ). The results are discussed and it will be shown that under the
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) excitation spectra of phenylcarbazole and a weakly bonded carbazole-benzene complex are presented. A prominent long progression with up to 7 quanta transitions was assigned to the intermolecular bending vibration B in the complex between the carbazole and benzene moi
