This instrument consists of two pointers, one fixed and the other sliding on a bar, and reading b y a veriiier to hundredths, and In its present form it is not well adapted to the purpose, but a modified form on the same principle, by estimation to thousandths of an inch. provided with a slow motion screw, would be a very useful instrument for making measures on enlargements of the planets and nebulae.
