✦ Synopsis

This paper reports recent experiments in the separation of line particulates from water using a rotating microporous filter. Results are reported in terms of the effect of rotational speed, operating pressure and slurry properties on the ratio of the initial filtration rate to equilibrium levels.

The latter are reached when surface deposits approach a stable thickness and resistance.

The separation process is described mathematically with the aim of elucidating the effects of the above variables on the overall process.
