After Rose Leonard loses her parents to the Spanish influenza epidemic that is sweeping across the country, she journeys from her home in Denver to Johnsville Crossing, a small town in Colorado, to start a new life with her aunt. When Rose is unexpectedly waylaid by the influenza epidemic on her way to her aunt's home, she ends up working as an untrained volunteer nurse at an emergency influenza hospital in the small mountain town of Silverton.

Dr. Joshua Brady runs a successful medical practice that he inherited from his father in Durango, Colorado. When the influenza epidemic strikes a small town nearby, a call for more doctors is put out. In the hope of lessening the guilt he is experiencing following his brother's death, Joshua volunteers to provide care at Silverton's emergency hospital.

Rose and Joshua form a bond as they work side-by-side fighting to save the citizens of Silverton. Will they survive the deadly epidemic to have a chance at love?
