Bensyl alkohol and ite analoguea with a non-activated benzene ring are transformed to fluoromethoxy derivatives by reaction with XeF1. The same reaction with diphenyl methanol gives di diphenylmethylether, while Zphenyl-Spropanol transforms to 2,4diphenyl-4methyl-1-pentene.
