✦ Synopsis

The mathematical equations of continuum mechanics are the equation of motion, the kinematic and the constitutive equations. The constitutive equation can be studied by using the existence of second and third order waves in the continua. The second order constitutive equation for finite deformation is investigated by supposing that a third order wave propagates in the continuum.
