Involvement of protein synthesis in frog pituitary homogenate (FPH)-induced progesterone production andlor accumulation in ovarian follicles was investigated. In amphibians, cycloheximide (C), an inhibitor of protein synthesis, inhibits progesterone and FPH-induced germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD).
