## Abstract The compression characteristics of a Gaussian pulse with varied chirp and pulse width are obtained by theoretical analysis and experiments. The compensation effects are diverse, even with the same chirped optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) dispersion compensator, and the optimal dispersi
