Le schegge narrative si affidano allora a una continua oscillazione temporale e la lingua si fa liquida e acquatica come i fiumi, il mare e il principio femminile che culla e custodisce. Del resto Ru, il titolo originale del libro, in vietnamita significa "ninnananna" e in francese, la lingua in cui la narratrice scrive, "piccolo ruscello". Questo romanzo, sorprendente di bellezza e di maestria, ha avuto un immediato successo in Canada e in Francia ha vinto il Grand Prix RTL-Lire 2010.
