✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Want to do an M&A deal in China? Be very careful! Remember that corruption and white‐collar crime (WCC) is not confined to the United States. It is an epidemic that has infected business abroad as well. And while the penalties for WCC in the United States are tame, in China the punishment can be death.

The authors review WCC in China, including who is doing it, what the penalties are, and protective measures executives can take to avoid and prevent encounters with the Chinese versions of WCC. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
