✦ Synopsis
Reactions of (1 -cyanocyclopropyl)diphenylphosphine oxide (la) with -NH and -SH nucleophiles gave the anticipated ring-opened products, while those of (I-ethoxycarbonylcyclopropy1)diphenylphosphine oxide (1 b) or diethyl I-cyano-and l-ethoxycarbonylcyclopropylphosphonates (lc-d) were often deflected by ester-exchange reactions. The ring-opened products of l a by amines reacted with aromatic aldehydes under. PTC conditions to produce homoallylic amines in good yields.
