Leuconotis euqenifolia and &. griffithii provide ring-opened indole alkaloids leuconolam, eoileuconolam, rhazinilam, and 5,21-dihvdrorhazinilam. Facile ring reclosures of leuconolam by acid and base furnished novel diazaspiroleuconolam derivatives and a pentacyclic (Melodinus-type) alkaloid respectively.
