β¦ Synopsis
The elastic shear constants C'= (Cn-C12)/2 and C4, and their volume derivatives are calculated for the 3d-and 4d-group transition metals with bcc structure within the framework of the rigid muffin-tin model. It is shown that the model, despite its crudeness, can substantially account for the magnitude and characteristic trends of experimental data.

## Abstract The application of theoretical methods based on the density functional theory with hybrid functionals provides good estimates of the exchange coupling constants for polynuclear transition metal complexes. The accuracy is similar to that previously obtained for dinuclear compounds. We pr
