Aneurysms of the atria are very rare lesions of congenital, or acquired, origin (Zeebregts et al., 1997;Barberato et al., 2002). Reports indicate that aneurysms are more common in the left atrium than in the right (Maeda et al., 1985;Stone et al., 1990). An atrial aneurysm, or diverticulum, is an aneurysmal outpouching from an otherwise normal atrium (Morrow and Behrendt, 1968). Although usually con-genital in origin, the presentation can be at any age (Moraes et al., 2001). Because of its rare occurrence, right atrial aneurysm may easily be confused with other, more common, anomalies that lead to right atrial enlargement, such as Ebsteins' anomaly (Gold et al., 1996;Chatrath et al., 2001).
