## Abstract The kinetic resolution of a malonateโ€substituted cyclopentenone gave rise to the formation of an enantiopure Dielsโ€Alder adduct which was converted into methyl dehydrocucurbate 2 by diastereoselective alkylation with (Z)โ€1โ€bromoโ€2โ€pentene and subsequent borohydride reduction.
