A progressive crack-tip strain approach to fatigue crack propagation is presented. Localstrain damage accumulation curve for crack initiation is used as a "cyclic damage accumulation" and "fracture criterion" in the heavily deformed region, R,?, just adjacent to the crack-tip. The changes of cyclic

โฆ Synopsis
Abstrati-The paper is concerned with a nonlinear description of the kinetics of crack propagation in bodies exhibiting rheological properties. The analysis is based on the concept of a time-dependent cohesion modulus for an ageing nonlinear viscoelastic material. A simple model of an infmite thin plate with a rectilinear crack is considered. The discussion is followed by some conclusions.

The microscopic factors relating to the energy dissipation increase in the viscoelastic dynamic crack propagation such as i n PMMA [poly(methyl methacrylate)] were investigated through the observation on the microfracture process ahead of the crack tip up to the microcrack formation. It is found tha
The usefulness of an artificial intelligence approach to some deterministic problems is discussed. An expert system approach to fracture mechanics problems is devised. Production rules for a simple expert system for crack tip mesh mapping are given. The knowledge acquisition process described in the
