Histamine is the neurotransmitter of photoreceptors in insects and other arthropods. As a photoreceptor transmitter, histamine acts on ligand-gated chloride channels. Another type of histamine receptor has been indicated in the insect central nervous system by binding pharmacology. This receptor is
