✦ Synopsis


α-decay data from doubly-even nuclei throughout the periodic table are reviewed and evaluated. From t h e s e d a t a n u c l e a r r a d i u s p a r a m e t e r s a r e c a l c u l a t e d b y u s i n g t h e P r e s t o n f o r m u l a f o r α -d e c a y p r o b a b i l i t i e s . The radius parameters for each element behave rather regularly as a function of neutron number. They show m i n i m a a t t h e m a j o r c l o s e d s h e l l s a n d d e c r e a s e s m o o t h l y t o w a r d t h e n e x t s h e l l c l o s u r e . T h e s a m e t r e n d i s observed for α reduced widths calculated using the Rasmussen formalism. Any irregularity or large departure f r o m t h i s b e h a v i o r i n d i c a t e s p r o b a b l e i n c o r r e c t i n p u t d a t a . T h i s s y s t e m a t i c b e h a v i o r c a n a l s o b e u t i l i z e d t o estimate partial half-lives. Alpha half lives, branching ratios and hindrance factors of even-even nuclei in the range 78 Z 102 from ground state to ground state and ground state to excited states of daughter nuclei are computed using the Coulomb and proximity potential model for deformed nuclei (CPPMDN). The computed half life
