✦ Synopsis

Fe(ptz)6(BF4)2 (ptz = I-propyltetrazole) is an iron(H) spin-crossover system which shows light-Induced excited spin state trapping. In this paper we show that (a) the same phenomenon can also be observed in Zn, _ rFeX(ptz)6(BF4)2 (x = 0.1) and is therefore basically a single-ion property, and (b) that the phenomenon is reversible. The efficiency of the light-induced spin ' crossover is of the order of 0.5% in the forward direction and 0.1% in the reverse direction. 'T % 'T, k-/1 Irro$;lon h = 51L.5 nm 'A, N&or Coordnotc w

At low temperatures an external pressure of 1 kbar accelerates the high-spin ~ low-spin relaxation in the [Znl\_xFex(ptz)6](BF4) 2, x = 0.1, spin-crossover system by one order of magnitude. This is due to the large difference in 0 3 volume between the high-spin and low-spin states of 26 A/molecule.
