Abstract
Combining broad access with academic excellence requires academic and support strategies and practices that pinpoint student needs and target appropriate resources effectively. Mercy College, a private comprehensive institution of ten thousand students in New York, has undertaken a series of policy and programmatic changes to support both access and excellence among nontraditional students.
