✦ Synopsis

We report on D *± production in interactions between 350 GeV/c ~r-particles and nuclei. Reconstruction of the decay D *+ --+ D%r + and charge conjugate, with D O identified via its decays to K-Tr + and K-~r-~r+Tr + , has allowed isolation of a sample of 612 + 28 D *:t: mesons, produced at positive xF. Assuming a linear A-dependence, the measured forward cross-sections per nucleon are 1.414-0.15 pb for D *+ and 1.90 4-0.19 tab for D*-. We present measurements of differential cross-sections with respect to xF and Pt 2, and compare data for D *:1: (vector-meson) production with data for production of charmed pseudoscalar mesons.
