✦ Synopsis
In addition to a few comments on details in our paper , Barton raises some fun-damental questions on characterization and classification in rock engineering. He also presents some clarifications of the Q-system, which is highly welcomed.
It is important with discussions in the field of rock engineering because the complexity in geology and variations in the many parameters involved cause various opinions on how to handle engineering assessments and design. As a reply to a comment of this kind should be short, we do not, however, have the possibility to fully comment all the items, which Barton takes up.
