## Abstract Japanese knotweed (__Fallopia japonica__ Houtt. Ronse Decrane) is a highly invasive exotic plant that forms monocultures in riparian areas, effectively reducing plant diversity. This change in riparian plant composition alters the allocthonous input of leaf litter into adjacent streams.
