We greatly appreciate the thoughtful discussions of our Report [l] by Drs. Wells and Burdekin[2], and by Dr. Pook[3], who have responded to the spirit of our intention to stimulate clarification of the COD concept.

Because of space limitations we confine our responses to those issues which seem to be of most importance.
