✦ Synopsis


Abstract

The exponent of the Debye‐Waller factor and the energy shift for γ‐rays resonantly absorbed by a deformed crystal (deformation introduced along a line) have been calculated using the technique of double time Green's function. It has been found that due to deformation there exists an observable broadening of the Mössbauer line and an additional energy shift also appears which however may not be well observed. A quadrupole splitting of the line has been predicted on the basis of deformation of the lattice.
