Rigorous resonance, as well as prcrcsonancc Raman spectra of N-mcthyltllio,~cctalllide and its N-dcuterated compound arc reported. The obscrvcd sclcctivity in the resonance intensity enhancement ir; dwussed in rclatlon to the potcntl,ll energy dlstributlons obt;iined by normal coordinate trmtmcnt. The structural change conccrnlng the C -N .uld C-S bond length is suggested to accompany the x* + H electronic cucitation.
