✦ Synopsis

Resonance Ram,In and infrared absorption spectra of CIO, radicals have been obscrvcd Irom measurements of crystal-hC NaCIO, irradiated at 77 K with 1.5 McV electrons. The C103 radicals occupy two sets of nonequivalent sites; radicals at one site are observed from rcsonancc scattering usins 6328 A cscitation while those: nt the other site arc observed from resonance scattering with 5 145 A excitation. The red scnsirive radicals decompose at 77 K with a half-life of =I9 min whijc the green sensitive radicals are more stable at rhis temperature.
