A number of compounds possessing the --CH (OH) CH3 group have been reacted with (R)-l-phenylethyl isocyanate. Each hydroxy compound yielded a pair of diastereoisorneric N-(l-phenylethyl) urethanes, which were separated by gas-liquid chromatography using 1% QF-1 as stationary phase.
