โœฆ Synopsis

We compare the resistivity, magnetization, and specific heat of superconducting amorphous Mo77Ge23 layers separated by insulating amorphous germanium. The fluctuation magnetization and specific heat are in excellent agreement with the 2D lowest Landau level scaling relations. The broadening of the resistive transition is similar to that observed in the specific heat, but is not in quantitative agreement with the proposed scaling relations. The resistivity becomes activated immediately below the thermodynamic transition, indicating little or no region describable by conventional flux flow.

Experimental data on the broad resistive transitions in high temperature superconductors (HTSC) in strong magnetic fields, obtained with high quality samples, are compared with results of the renormalized fluctuation theory. The theory is extended to lower temperature by a partial summation method c
