The residual lattice strains in three types of aluminium have been measured using X-ray diffraction methods and have been compared postulated by G. B. Greenou T *I h [l] uantitatively with the theory of an intergranular stress system discrepancy between theory and experiment has been observed with specimens in the form o tensile test pieces. It is concluded that these results raise doubts as to the validity of the theory in its present form.

INNERE GITTERSPANNUNGEN IN PLASTISCH VERFORMTEM ALUMINIUM Innere Gitterspannungen wurden rlintgenographisch in drei verschiedenen Aluminiumsorten gemessen, und die Resultate wurden quantitativ mit der von G. B. Greenough [l] vorgeschlagenen Theorie eines interkristallinen Spannungssystems verglichen. Wenn das Metal1 in Form von Zugversuchsproben vorlag, wurde eine Diskrepanz zwischen Experiment und Theorie beobachtet. Daraus wird geschlossen, dass die Giiltigkeit der Theorie in ihrer gegenwartigen Form zweifelhaft erscheint.
