During a ten-year period 642 abdominal hollow organ resections have been performed by means of a new, original techniquethat is, CO;? laser irradiation combined with specially designed instrumentation. This resulted in a remarkable decrease in postoperative morbidity and mortality. The article describes the laser procedure.
