✦ Synopsis
Several years ago, the late Giorgio Quazza proposed that Automatica should include reports of automatic control research which is being conducted in various parts of the world. Although the Automatica Editorial Board approved this plan in principle, there were two basic problems: (1) deciding on how the reports were to be obtained and prepared; (2) providing the publication space for the reports which could be rather long.
These problems were eventually solved as follows: interested directors of research groups or research laboratories in the field of automatic control will be invited to submit brief surveys of the research activities at their facilities for publication in Automatica, but these surveys will be strictly limited in length to no more than three pages typed on oversized laysheets provided by the IFAC publisher.
