Abstract
An artificial closed cylindrical surface is placed around a reinforced leaky coaxial cable. The field inside the surface is calculated by the finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) method. The field outside is expanded by spatial harmonics. By matching the fields of the two regions at the artificial surface, equations for the unknown expansion coefficients are obtained. By solving these equations, the expansion coefficients and, therefore, the radiation field are obtained. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
