β¦ Synopsis
Miss Abigail Linton was once a child who, when faced with trouble, found peace in being rescued by her friend Richard Seton. Now, as an adult, Abigail believes that one day she will fall in love with a man and marry him. Unfortunately, those hopes are destroyed when her domineering father, seeking to expand his business interests, demands that she allow a man she detests to court her.
Richard Seton, Duke of Prindleton, has loved Abigail since they were young, yet he never had the courage to tell her. Even now, when a chance meeting brings the two together, he still lacks the strength to speak the words.
When he learns that Abigail is to be forced into a courtship she does not want, Richard steps up with the first idea that comes to mind: the announcement of their pending engagement. Seeing no other option, Abigail soon finds herself wed to Richard, unable to find the courage to speak the truth that she does not love him, for she knows it will break his heart.
When a tragic accident befalls the duke, the pair must test their patience and above all their commitment to one another.
Despite how they came to be wed, Abigail wonders if perhaps her heart can be Rescued by the Duke. And Richard, fearing for the life fate has set before him, wonders if it will be his wife who can rescue him.
