β¦ Synopsis
Final-state interaction effects in charmless B u,d,s β P P decays are studied. Our main results are as follows: (i) Theoretical results are in agreement with data in the presence of FSI. (ii) The B β Ο + Ο -and Ο 0 Ο 0 decay rates are suppressed and enhanced respectively by FSI. (iii) The FSI has large impact on direct CP asymmetries (A) of many modes. (iv) The deviation(ΞA) between A(B 0 β K -Ο + ) and A(B -β K -Ο 0 ) can be understood in the FSI approach. (v) Sizable and complex color-suppressed tree amplitudes, which are crucial for the large Ο 0 Ο 0 rate and ΞA, are generated through exchange rescattering. (vi) The B -β Ο -Ο 0 direct CP violation is very small and is not affected by FSI. (vii) Several B s decay rates are enhanced. (viii) Time-dependent CP asymmetries S in B d,s decays are studied. The ΞS(B 0 β K S Ξ· ) is very small (β€ 1%). We found that the asymmetries |S| for B 0 s β Ξ·Ξ·, Ξ·Ξ· and Ξ· Ξ· decays are all below 0.06.

We analyze the charmless two-body B β P P , V P decays in the soft-collinear-effective-theory (SCET), where V (P ) denotes a light vector (pseudoscalar) meson. Using the current experimental data, we find two solutions in Ο 2 fit for the 16 non-perturbative inputs responsible for the 87 B β P P and
