โœฆ Synopsis

Resin (ROTT') prepared by condensation of resacetophenoneoxime and thiourea with trioxane in the presence of an acid catalyst proved to be a selective ion-exchange resin for some metal ions. The chelating ion-exchange properties of this resin were studied for Cu 2รท, Ni 2รท, Co 2รท, Mn 2รท, Zn 2รท, Fe 3รท and UO ifรท ions. A batch-equilibration method was employed to study selectivity of metal ion uptake over a wide pH range and in media of various ionic strengths. The resin showed a higher selectivity for Cu 2รท, Fe 3+ and UO 2+ ions than forMn 2+, Co + and Zn 2+ ions. The separation of Fe 3+ and UO 2+ with Cu 2 รท, Ni 2 รท, Co 2 รท and Zn 2 รท ions was also investigated.
