โœฆ Synopsis

This paper describes a theory of knowledge on which future CAD systems can stand. First, w.e present two distinct description methods, viz. extensional and intensional. Second, these two are compared in the context of CAD applications and their advantages and disadvantages are clarified. It is shown that extensional description methods are more suitable for a future intelligent CAD system because its data scheme is frequently modified. However, intensional description methods are better in performing, e.g., simple queries. In order to take advantages of these two, finally, a new data description method is proposed.
