THE WORKSHOP took place from 20-22 June in the 'Philips Ontspannings Centrum', Eindhoven, The Netherlands. This was immediately after the Conference on Digital Computer Applications in Process Control which was held from 14-17 June in The Hague. Only 4 non-Dutch people of the 46 participants attended both the conference and the workshop. This can be attributed to the narrowing of the scope of the conference, which does not include any more the software for process control. Because of this low number of joint participants there is hardly any need to plan the next Workshop on Real Time Programming in relation with this triennial conference. However as the next Conference on Digital Computer Applications in Process Control will take place in conjunction with the INTERKAMA exhibition (1980, Diisseldorf) there may be more joint participation than this year.

I decided to shorten the workshop to 2½ days (1976, Paris: 3 days) since it was my experience that most participants leave before or during the last afternoon session to catch their planes and trains.
