✦ Synopsis

During the past year there were held no less than 32 meetings of the Sections, all of which were given up to the presentation of papers on subjectsof scientific and technical interest, or to the discussion of live topics of general utility.

Much of the material printed in the Journal is derived from this source, and the uniform exceIIence of these artieles affords the best testimony that could be desired to the value of the work of the Sections.

In accordance with resolutions passed by both Sections, the Chemical Section and the Physical Section have been united into a single Section, under the title of the Section of Physics and Chemistry. This union has received the Board's sanction.
