We thank Dr. Dalby for his comments. We do not disagree that these ''systemic'' factors may have contributed to the thrombotic complication that occurred to our patient. However, it is our practice to use nonionic media, we do not routinely heparinize our diagnostic cases and many of our patients are in congestive heart failure. Yet, this complication rarely occurs. It remains our conten-tion that the thrombotic event that occurred in our patient was primarily attributable to a local, technical, equipment-related mechanism.
